Celebration è una piccola città nello stato della Florida (USA) di circa 11.000 abitanti. L’origine di questa città è artificiale: è stata edificata infatti a partire dal 1996 dalla Walt Disney Company su progetti originali di grandi Architetti quali Aldo Rossi, Michael Graves e Robert Venturi fra gli altri. L’impianto urbanistico è stato curato dalla Cooper Robertson & Partner e da Robert Stern.
Il progetto
Il programma Celebration is the reproduction of the places that characterized the age of peace, security and stability, when the company was not threatened by the dangers of modernity. It addresses all'insicura middle class, still nostalgic of life 'quiet' as experienced by their fathers, in places where children could play safely in the street and where the neighbors were all friends, 'everyone knows a Celebration' is the motto of which its inhabitants be proud of.
community
In Celebration, Disney has tried to create a true community. A closed community, which may not exceed 20,000 units for not undermine the project of cleanliness, order, civilization e patriottismo che deve necessariamente contraddistinguerla. Per questo obiettivo gli abitanti sono costretti a rinunciare ad una parte consistente della propria libertà personale.
